Dear Parents and Carers
Our open evening last week was a particularly busy one for Highdown. It was fantastic that over 500 people came to visit us on the evening.
I was very proud of the students who had volunteered to help staff in curriculum areas and especially proud of my 6 student readers: Katie Boulton (Year 7), Jemike Matthews Ifill (Year 7), James Burley (Year 9), Olivia Lee (Year 9), Georgia Haines (Year 13) and David Langridge (Year 13)
They spoke eloquently about their Highdown School experience, from 4 weeks for the year 7 students up to applying to universities from our 6th formers.
On Friday morning we had another 150 people to see us in operation in the normal school day and look forward to another busy morning on Thursday. Year 7 students will be available again to chat about how easy it is to settle in to Highdown with our transition programme to support everyone as an individual.
It was lovely to speak to visitors and parents, some of whom were coming back with a second or third Highdowner. The students were a credit to the school and were pleased to welcome primary school children at the start of their Highdown experience.
To get into life as a Highdower, why don’t you try the word of the week, ‘laconic’, at home.
