Best ever performance for the Academy
On Tuesday the 11th of July, Key Stage 3 students performed a Brechtian style adaptation of Alice in wonderland called "Alice!” Written, directed and choreographed by Mrs Hawkins and co-directed by Chloe Mortimer (12B). Holly Kirkpatrick (8J) as the Dance Captain and Chloe Mortimer assisted with the choreography and Joe Gater (10H) assisted with acting coaching small groups of characters.
On Monday 17 July a group of 20 Year 8 students took part in a Learning Conference. The aim of this event was to understand the different ways individuals learn and how we can best build resilience and independence through a growth mind-set and ultimately use these skills for the duration of students time at Highdown.
On Monday 17 July 2017 Highdown’s teaching staff got together for their annual celebration of excellence. This year the competition was fierce amongst all staff hoping to win an audition of Highdown’s Got Talent. The three auditions to take place were Differentiation and Challenge, Assessment without Levels or PLCS and Directed Improvement and Reflective Time (DIRT).
Highdown School welcomed pupils from local primary schools for the annual Year 5 Day.

Berkshire Maestros will be hosting after school groups on a Thursday September onwards at Highdown School, as part of the new Caversham Music Centre.

If your child is eligible for free school meals, has been eligible within the last 6 years or is the child of a parent in the services then we would ask that you complete an order form and hand it to the Finance Office for processing by Thursday 6 July 2017 to ensure delivery before the end of term. The school will purchase the compulsory items of uniform for your child, payment should be included for any additional items, cheques should be made payable to Highdown School.
