    The Highdown Christmas Concert was held on Thursday 10th December 2015 and was well attended by staff, parents and students, filling the school hall with a receptive and enthusiastic audience.  The varied programme included both solo and ensemble items interspersed by the customary rousing congregational carols.

    On Tuesday 8th December 2015, the A level Textile students went to the Clothes Show Live at the NEC Birmingham. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to fully immerse themselves in the world of fashion and textiles.

  • Virologist Visit

    A virologist from the University of Reading came to visit Highdown on Monday 7 December 2015 to deliver a presentation and question and answer session to more able students across the school. The presentation focused on dangerous viruses, such as Ebola.

  • Crowne Plaza Art Competition

    We were asked by the Crowne Plaza in Caversham to help them produce paintings from The Louvre for their Parisian Christmas party theme. All of Year 8 created a piece of work and Year 12 Art students also took part by recreating the famous Mona Lisa. Students responded really well, producing work in lessons, at lunchtimes, as homework and as extra challenges.

  • Year 7 Have the Edge

    Year 7 students are the first at Highdown School to participate in ‘The Edge’ programme. This is an exciting opportunity for students to develop personal and employability skills through the completion of challenge activities. Each activity is designed to help students foster the skills of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication. The Edge programme is designed so that students can safely make progress in each attribute.
