  • Highdown pupils return from China trip on track towards Mandarin fluency

    A group of Year 8 pupils from Highdown has returned from a bespoke two-week intensive study visit to Beijing in China as part of a flagship government language programme, delivered by the UCL Institute of Education in partnership with the British Council. The programme aims to get at least 5000 pupils in England on track towards fluency in Mandarin by 2020.

  • BBC Radio Berkshire Trip

    Highdown School Radio students visited BBC Radio Berkshire as a reward for their hard work and commitment to the extra-curricular club during this academic year. They were also joined by a few students who had been nominated for their work at the Highdown BNC Club.

     

    This trip has been running annually for several years. This year was slightly different as we went to their new studios at Thames Valley Park in the school minibus following their move from Caversham Park last year.

  • Highdown Fun Day

    35 excited Year 7s attended the Canoe Fun Day – the first ever hosted by Reading Canoe Club. It was held specifically for students from Highdown School who had completed a 5-week beginner’s course during April/May and June/July (a total of 48). It was intended to be part fun / celebration and part a test out of the skills they’d learnt.
