At Highdown we celebrate the success, effort and achievement of our students in many different ways: from sports trophies and medals to personalised letters home and vouchers.
In this area of the website you will find details of some of our reward schemes and how every Highdown student has the potential to have their success celebrated.
Students are also entered into external competitions such as the Maths Challenge.
Students have the chance to earn praise points every day at school. This could be for academic excellence, great effort in class, a fantastic piece of home learning or promoting school values outside the classroom such as respect or for going out of their way to be helpful to others.
Presentation Evening takes place annually in December for students to receive their GCSE and A Level certificates. There are also special awards to recognise achievements of students in various subjects and school life.
The Headteacher's Awards take place annually in July to recognise the achievements of students in years 7 to 10 and 12 who have performed well in a variety of subjects throughout the school year.
The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year olds. In the 2014-15 academic year over 600,000 pupils from 4,000 schools took part in the three individual challenges, the UK's biggest national maths competitions.
