The aim of this course is to equip students with the confidence to effectively communicate (both in spoken and written forms) and develop a thorough understanding of the culture of countries and communities where Spanish is spoken. It also provides a stepping stone for university courses in Spanish and/or Hispanic Studies. It develops an interest in, and enthusiasm for, language learning and encourages students to consider their study of Spanish in a broader context.

Students are assessed in listening, reading and writing (as one paper), another writing paper (film/literature essay) and speaking (which includes an individual research project) at the end of Year 13.
Post 18 Opportunities
As well as allowing candidates to develop their language skills, the course will foster an awareness of Spanish culture and history. In addition to providing a secure foundation for study in higher education, the course equips candidates with a range of skills for careers in business, education and the arts.
Students will be expected to purchase their own textbook and grammar book. It is also expected that they will purchase a good quality Spanish to English dictionary.
