Week B

The STAR Centre is a creative environment where students are able to talk about, express and understand their feelings through emotional literacy.

We offer support groups, 1:1 mentoring, after school clubs and various other community work.  We also run Year 7 transition groups which are aimed at helping your child settle within their new school environment.

What are the main aims of STAR Centre?
  • Develop students’ social and communication skills.
  • Raise students’ self-esteem and confidence.
  • Provide positive interactions for students.
  • Provide a safe environment for students.
  • Assist in developing positive and healthy relationships/attachments with peers and adults.

We are proud to be able to offer free counselling with No5 on site at Highdown. You can read more about No5 HERE.

Exam Season

Exam season can be a challenging time for young people. Many feel stressed in the lead-up to their exams and feel worried in anticipation of their results.

As adults, it can be difficult to know what we can do to support children and young people during this time. The Children and Young People's Mental Health Charity 'Place2Be' have created some tip sheets full of practical advice to help young people, and families manage stress during exam season.
