Week A

The options process is a key period of time for students at Highdown. To aid them in this process you can find further information below.

Additionally, you may speak with your child's mentor, Head of Achievement or Senior Leader in charge of options, Mr Franks.

All students will study the core curriculum.

Core curriculum subjects include the following:

English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Science. All students will also participate in weekly Physical Education/Games lessons and PSHCE sessions during timetabled lesson.

Optional subjects are listed in the table below under 'Further Information'.

All students and parents will receive communication outlining their options process, including a link to the options form/platform (Bromcom Student Portal).

We strongly recommend a broad and balanced curriculum is taken by all students. All students will be met by a member of the Senior Leadership or Year 9 Pastoral team after they have submitted their options form. All subjects lead to well-established and recognised qualifications. There are two types of qualifications taught at Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre, GCSEs and Level 1/2 (applied) courses.
