In this area of our website you will find details of just some of the many extra-curricular clubs and activities we offer here at Highdown.

Clubs do change according to the season; for example our sports clubs depend on the time of year. Days, times and rooms are also subject to change, therefore always check with the teaching staff involved to make sure you have all the information you need before attending.

Reptile Club

Come face your fears or getting involved in exotic animal husbandry in S7 at Monday Lunchtime with Mr Moss. We have snakes, tortoises, giant snails and axolotls. Regulars get to take snakes home over the weekend and holidays!

Science Club

Tuesday after school in S7 - Magic the Gathering Club. Come learn the most complicated (and addictive) game in the world! Easy to learn and near impossible to master, Magic the Gathering is the worlds biggest trading card game. We have learner decks, starter decks you can take home and tournaments running through the year. In addition, the space is available for other hobby enthusiasts to use as well. Like Warhammer? Bring it along. Want to play Dungeons and Dragons or other role playing game, we'll help you get started. 3.15 to 4.30pm.

Art Club

The art department is running an art club each week. The club will run until June half term and is open to all students. The Art club has a great community feel, we work on interesting projects and use a wide range of materials.

We are starting the club this term on Wednesday 25th September and it will run every Wednesday there on from 3.05 – 4.05 pm in A3.

If your child would like to join the club please complete and return the reply slip sent out on ParentMail, to Miss Garner giving your child permission to attend the after school club.

BNC Club

The BNC is an Economist Educational Foundation run digital news club which focuses on KS2 and KS3 engagement with wider world issues.

Each month students are given 6 weeks worth of material on a new exciting topic. Students will then create articles and reports on the topic, which will be uploaded onto the BNC website. Other schools can then comment and encourage discussion. We are also encouraged to do the same to other schools presented work. At the end of the term, a summary task is given and we have the opportunity to produce a 'school' newspaper, reporting on the topic and the work completed.

Hair & Beauty Club

Mondays in DT5 for years 7 and 8. Only 11 students per session. Speak to Mrs Pierro if you're interested.
